XVIIIth century castle for rent in Normandie on a weekly basis, selfcatering

Located on the edge of the forêt de Gouffern, the chateau de Miguillaume is a large "gentilhommière" built in the XVIIth century. In the XVIII th the drawing rooms were added and in the early XIXth century, the front part was completed, giving to the construction its gorgeous look.

The house has 12 bedrooms for 25 persons, 2 bath rooms 4 shower rooms, 5 toilets, 2 kitchens, two large drawing rooms (72 sqm), two dining rooms and a large entrance hall giving the possibility of brilliant receptions.

The beautiful park welcomes the peaceful walks and the orchard offers a choice of fruits depending on the season: cherries, plums apples, pears. Several houses are scattered in the park: horse stable, barn, sheapfold, carriage shade, piggery, old caretakers's house, dovecote; all these buildings form a charming private village.

The chateau is ideally situated on the edge of the large forêt de Gouffern with its many stud farms and numerous sporting activities, restaurants and attractions. Still within easy reach of the beautiful beaches of the Normandy coast.
During the second world war, The castle was requisitioned by the Germans and used as hospital until the famous battle of Chambois (5km) where they were defeated. A memorial at Mont-Ormel recalls this page of history.
